Last night’s baking

Two pies and a cake:

Back centre: smoked salmon, cream cheese and basil pie. Front left: spinach, egg and parmesan cheese pie. Front right: chocolate and marmalade cake with white chocolate icing.

See this post for earlier iterations of the pies. The cake is modified from a Nigella Lawson recipe.

As my family will readily testify, I try really hard not to boast about my own cooking. So I’ll leave this post right there.

Oh, but the cake!

And the pies!

  1. I think you’re getting the hang of this baking lark.

  2. Feels like it. I can hardly overstate how great the cake is, and that’s coming from someone who doesn’t even like cake in general. I’ll have to have a go at bread soon.

  3. Surely that should have been 3.14159265 pi and one cake?

“MMMMmmmm Pi” (in Homer Simpson voice).

We had Life Group (cell group, home group) last night and it’s popular due to it being called “Cake On 14”. We mostly eat home baked pies and cakes while we chat at the start. Food… who knew.

Last night we had home made Macaroons, and I ordered *proper* chocolate to celebrate birthdays: Winner is “Green and Blacks 60% Dark Yorkshire Toffee”.

You’d certainly be welcome to come along with that selection, though I suppose the 9 hour flight there, and 9 hours back and 500 quid ticket might be a little extravagant?

  4. I won’t say I’m not tempted … but, yes, the logistics are not propitious.
